Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace

Everybody Gets to Play #22

LVC Gang,

Merry Advent Liberty! We had a super celebration of Advent yesterday as we studied Isa. 9 reflecting and anticipating the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. I encouraged each of us to share with others which name of Jesus they really need to hold onto this Advent. As we remember Christ’s coming to earth as a baby, cherish the Lord’s coming into our lives, and anticipate the triumphal return of our King, may hope fill us all.

I also want to send out a huge thank you for all of those who contributed and served beautifully during our community meal. We had just five new guests (yes we are counting our 4 ½ year old no doubt😊), I believe we did so well in creating the kind of atmosphere that was nothing short of Kingdom welcome. We are just now beginning to forge ahead with community connections and there are more invitations and networks that will occur over time. It can take some time for these things to develop and our reputation will grow. I smiled as I listened in to several people chatting with our guests, to kids interacting with each other, and just the overall sense of healthy pride that our congregation had in rolling out the red carpet to our community. I couldn’t ask for more gracious and welcoming hearts. You guys are awesome. 😊

In response to our reflection on hope, be thinking of these things as you pray:

  • Where is there hopelessness in my life or amongst those I see regularly? How can I foster hope in the midst of it?
  • Which name from Isa. 9 do I want to hold to this week as I hope?
  • When I pray, what specific nation comes to mind that I can pray for that Jesus would truly be the hope of the nations?
  • How might I specifically share this hope with someone inside or outside of LVC, in word or in deed?

Lastly, Pastor Karen has put out some really powerful Advent videos. Share them on Facebook or through email with those you know to be a blessing. I love and care for each of you. Happy Advent!! 😊

He is with us,

John
