Unity, love, and interdependence

Everybody Gets to Play #8

Liberty Fam,

Some of you know that I am in grad school at the moment. It can be wild and crazy at times but for the most part I am enjoying it. When someone asks what you are writing your dissertation on it can be difficult to describe in 30 seconds. I will spare you the details but much of this four year journey in grad school is all about “Together” or interdependence, the topic of the new series at LVC that kicked off yesterday. Finally, someone other than my computer screen to engage with on a topic so close to my heart! 😊

“Together in the Trinity” coming from Genesis 1:24-26 and John 17:17-20 was our launching pad yesterday. Over the next couple months, this anchor of the Trinity God and the diversity and interdependence shown in the godhead will be so very important. We have a perfect example of unity, love, and interdependence that we want to reflect to the world. Just as we talked about yesterday, may our imaginations and creativity in how we carry out interdependence truly reflect the greatness of the Trinity God. It is possible! We are image-bearers and we have opportunities around us every day to shine brightly.

Let’s take some time out this week to keep processing and do our best to try to do that in community. A text, a quick phone call, a short voice memo – we have so many different ways to connect so let’s try to do that “together.”

  • When you imagine the intimacy, unity, and love of the Trinity where does your mind go? What are some practical ways you can entre more fully into that prayerful fellowship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit??
  • What areas are you stuck when it comes to interdependence and faithfully walking together with your friends, family, or other networks of people in your life? How can the fellowship of you and the Trinity God and other believers assist in getting unstuck?
  • What huge God imagined ministry is God leading us into as a church? Where have we dreamed but not dreamed big enough. . . risked but not risked enough? The wonderful invitation we keep talking about lately grows and grows and whosoever will can step into it. Your dream matters. Your voice matters. Collectively let’s go crazy with our dreams!

Guys, we are here. We are together. God is knitting us together as a family. Please do not hesitate to reach out to each other this week and know that I am here too as we lean into the Lord more and more. Let’s help each other as we process the above questions amongst other things in our lives.

On Thursday at 10am I am going to open up John’s Zoom room to anyone who wants to stop in to chat, pray, or if you simply need a good laugh. I have said it before and I will probably say it again. . . hands in the pile together!

With you on the journey,

John
