Crafted Prayer (Chandler Run, Dec 2024)

Lord, we pray for the residents of the 500+ people in 218 homes that will eventually be occupied here. We ask you that whoever lives here will be protected from evil and that only good will come to them (even though sometimes good doesn’t look that way to people when the Lord is trying to do something in them).

We pray that there would be a real sense of community here, and that people would be surprised by that, and that there would be some believers who would foster that. Lord, we know that so many times, when people get home, they shut the door and they don’t go out; they are so isolated. Thank you that in this time where there is such a strong need for community, there is a fire pit here, with chairs where people can congregate and get to know each other. Lord, please protect the children who will live here from dangers. We pray that drivers would pay attention to and respect neighborhood speed limits. Lord, we pray that you would wrap your arms of love around people here.

In this community that includes a street called “Delevan Run” [Delevan means “godly friend”] we ask that you would make us godly friends to the people who come. May we imprint the love of God on the people whom we are honored to encounter.

Lord, we ask that you would empower us with your healing and presence to meet people in their place of pain. Thank you that there are places of joy here.

Lord, hear our prayers and the cries of our hearts. Help us to attend to your voice, as we continue to pray for neighbors. We welcome you! We ask that you would help us in all these different ways that we have noticed. Help us to be faithful to show up, to pray, to come alongside. Help us to be friends who share the love of God with those who come, just as you have shared your love with us. Freely we have received; freely we give. For your glory and in your name, Amen!
