We had a delightful time sharing Songs of Springtime with Atria residents and staff. Karen played a dozen songs with lyrics about “spring” from the 1870s through to the 1970s. Tamera prepared a beautiful Powerpoint for all who desired to sing along, and Paul served double duty as tech guru and page turner! Each resident received a program and a floral postcard to add a touch of beauty to their rooms. It was a sweet and gentle time during Holy Week to remember and marvel at the beauty of God’s creation and gifts to us all.
Zechariah 10:1— “Ask rain from the Lord in the season of the spring rain, from the Lord who makes the storm clouds, who gives showers of rain to you, the vegetation in the field to everyone.”

We had a delightful time sharing Songs of Springtime with Tucker Park Crossing residents and staff who gathered to listen to a dozen songs about “spring.” JR prepared delicious treats and gave an inspiring talk about Easter, Tamera ran her Powerpoint and helped everyone find the melody, and Paul ran tech and turned pages! Everyone enjoyed receiving a program and a floral postcard to add a touch of beauty to their rooms. Whenever we share music together, we are all mutually encouraged and filled with the joy of God’s goodness to us all.

We had a precious time with the dear residents and beloved staff at Atria LG sharing Songs of Springtime. Karen played a dozen songs with lyrics about “spring” from the 1870s through to the 1970s. Tamera shared introductions and words of encouragement and love while also turning pages, and Paul faithfully recorded the video and sat among Dad’s (Grandpa Gene’s) former neighbors 🙂 Each one received a program and a floral postcard to remind us all of God’s beautiful creation and loving care for us all.

Shelly & Karen had a blast visiting Ms. Vick’s (aka Kelsey’s) Kindergarten classroom to learn about Arctic animals (on the first day of their ABC countdown). The kids really enjoyed the activities – rhymes about polar bears and walruses, learning a little bit about many arctic animals, finding figurines in a huge bucket of ice, and remembering that “there are no penguins in the Arctic!” by placing a penguin sticker on the world map where they really live (way down south!) We love our community, and Kelsey is doing such good work with her students each day, teaching them about life and learning, coming alongside their families in molding these precious young hearts and minds!

A wonderful time was had by all at our monthly Music at Atria. Tamera, Pam, and Shelly sang songs focusing on being happy no matter what life throws at us. Our friends knew most of the songs and really enjoyed singing along with us. The song “Don’t Worry Be Happy” was a hit with Pam’s accent and all!

Patricia, who had not been able to participate in music ministry since before Christmas, said that she was extremely touched by the strong presence of the Holy Spirit and the open hearts of the people who came, as they sang and joined in as we shared Songs to Live By at Tucker Park Crossing. “It was beautiful and ministered to me so much!” Shelly related that as they sang songs about life, whatever life throws at you, they were grooving, and those who came were very enthusiastic. “When we got to one particular song, Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand, a lot of people knew it, and we had church, with clapping, singing, rejoicing. A great time was had by all!”

From Pastor Karen: Although I missed the first two sets of “Songs to Live By” (at Atria and TPC – both fabulous!) earlier this month, I was delighted to be able to join my dear friends Tamera, Patricia, Pam, and Shelly in their third and final set at Atria LG just two days after returning from a long visit with our grandchildren and their parents! It was a precious time for me, being able to sit with residents and staff (including Dad’s favorite, Leila) and enjoy a wide variety of beautiful music together, as I did with my Dad on many occasions when he lived there. One of Dad’s fellow residents who had moved out during his time there had moved back in, and one of her daughters was visiting from out of state and was delighted to be there for this special set in this memory care unit which is truly family. Each song “hit the mark” and brought inspiration, joy, and tears with heartfelt lyrics that offer us all guidance for our lives and words of life. The room was filled with singing, hand motions, and dancing in place (who can forget Ms. Thelma’s shoulder moves!) … love and joy abounded as we sang of the highs and lows in life and remembered how much God loves us all.
