Kelsey shared that hundreds of families were again served at Graves Road Elementary’s Market Day – a mountain of food was distributed, all except a couple of dozen jars of peanut butter which were sent home with whoever wanted them after our Sunday worship service 🙂 We are praying that families in need will be connected with resources during the school’s summer break when Market Day is not available.

April Showers – Music at Atria (a precious community where Grandpa Gene lives!)
We had a wonderful time sharing music together with Grandpa Gene and friends over at Atria. Karen played a selection of songs on the piano about clouds, rain, storms, and rainbows – it was a very enjoyable singalong! Special thanks to Tamera, Patricia, Pam, Paul, and Virginia, such great teamwork!

Liberty Vineyard Church made a donation to Ms. Vick’s Kindergarten classroom to supplement donations from parents in funding an enriching and educational end-of-year alphabet countdown! We are so grateful to be able to partner with Kelsey as she empowers her students with the love and grace and wisdom of God!

About a dozen of us from LVC had a joyful time together with a roomful of residents and staff at Meadowbrook on Holy Saturday (the day before Easter) as we sang TV Tunes and played Bingo! It was a great way to bring back some memories of days gone by while remembering the most important thing about Easter: God loves us so much that he gave himself, Jesus Christ, so that we could live the life of God, the abundant life, with Jesus here and now and forever. Tamera, Karen, Pam, & Shelly shared music & fun, JR shared delicious refreshments, and we all shared the light and love of Jesus. All glory to God!

We had our 2nd annual Pet Blessing today on the grass outside of our church building … this year’s program included a special time in which we took time to grieve the loss of beloved pets, in addition to songs, prayers, Scriptures, blessings, treat bags, and cookie decorating for pet parents & friends. Many people in our church participated with heart and hard work and invitations and imagination and preparations and presence … everybody got to play! People were deeply moved in joy and in grief, participated eagerly, sang wholeheartedly, asked for prayer with openness and expectancy, and received God’s and our blessings! What a joy to have so many willing hands and hearts in making this happen. Our now annual Pet Blessing is such a delightful way to love God and people! All glory to God!
One participant said afterwards, “Thank you so much for including our pet we recently lost, and us. It was very healing to be there and everyone was so kind!”

Paul & Karen brought April Showers music and presence to memory residents and staff at Atria Life Guidance. What a special time we had together (and we discovered that the side room is much better for both proximity and acoustics)!

JR & Dawn delivered five more wonderful Welcome Baskets to new residents in a nearby apartment community. Each new resident who receives one of these welcome baskets will find household supplies, baked goods, community information, a sturdy reusable shopping bag, a QR code for our church’s ENCOURAGING WORSHIP SONGS playlist, and a personal welcome note. May each one who receives one of these feel welcomed and loved in our neighborhood.

This month, for Music at Atria, we did a Hymn Sing of 10 hymns and the stories behind them. Paul ran tech for all of our singers – Pam, Don, Mariana, Virginia from Atria, and Karen (who also played piano). Many of the 30 or so residents and staff who came sang along, and God’s presence was sweet, healing, and comforting. We had a beautiful time with our Atria friends!

Tamera, Shelly, and Karen brought TV tunes time (no bingo this time!) for and with Grandpa Gene and his crew over at Atria Life Guidance. It brought so much joy to one and all as we gathered together in very close proximity in the side room … It quickly became apparent that height matters! As Tamera & Karen sang and played, Shelly showed and told about shows with her awesome props – at eye level – for these precious residents, most of whom have trouble looking up (literally and figuratively). And we got to do it on Tamera’s birthday! Smiles and joy abounded! What beautiful glimpses of God’s tender and loving care, and it was an absolute blast!

This month, for Music & Ministry at Meadowbrook, we had a very special time together as Tamera, Patricia, Pam, and Karen sang tributes to artists who had “Gone Too Soon” (joined by Faith and Declan on one song). Many of the songs evoked strong memories of times gone by – there were tears as well as singing, dancing, clapping, and joy. JR always makes people feel comfortable with his friendly banter. He and Dawn prepared delicious refreshments, and Paul did a stellar job on tech. Fourteen LVC-ers were present along with a roomful of precious residents and staff. A great time was had by all, and God was glorified!

(A few days after we did this outreach, we received this precious note from the activity director – “It was a pleasure meeting with you (Mr. JR) and Pastor Karen on Thursday. Our residents always look forward to seeing your visits. For them it’s like a mystery as to what show or games you have planned out. My facility is very thankful for Liberty Vineyard Church and the joy you bring to our residents. In this day and time people are only thinking of themselves and no longer have love or time for others. So, THANK YOU!!! … Thank you, Thank you, Thank you !!”)

Our Bingo Babes + TV Tunes team shared our 2025 set with residents and friends of a shared-living residence for young adults with physical disabilities. This event was organized by Shelly and hosted by her good friend, James. This was a first for us as most of our participants were present via Zoom (and we sang and played acoustically!). We received this beautiful encouragement afterwards: “I absolutely love Bingo and I really enjoyed Musical Bingo tonight! Thank you to whoever organized this event and for your time doing this extremely awesome event. Hopefully this event can happen some time again in the future because I will definitely be more than happy to join it.” A great time was had by all – all glory to God! We do hope we can join our new friends and neighbors again soon!

Karen delivered five more wonderful Welcome Baskets that JR & Dawn prepared to Liliana and her team at a nearby apartment community, so they can distribute them to new residents as they move in. Each new resident who receives one of these welcome baskets will find household supplies, baked goods, community information, a sturdy reusable shopping bag, a QR code for our church’s ENCOURAGING WORSHIP SONGS playlist, and a personal welcome note. We had a joyful time with our friends at Atria, doing heart-moving tribute songs from artists who are “Gone Too Soon!” Tamera, Patricia, Pam, Karen, with Paul on tech joined together bringing music and presence and heart to our friends (residents, staff, families) over at Atria. Laughter and tears abounded as we together fondly remembered beloved artists and songs. We are so very grateful to be a part of the warm and welcoming community at Atria in this way!

We had another joyful time with our friends at Atria LG, doing heart-moving tribute songs from artists who are “Gone Too Soon” one last time! Tamera, Patricia, Shelly, Karen, with Paul on tech joined together bringing music and presence and heart to our friends (residents, staff, families) in the more intimate Atria LG neighborhood. We fondly remembered beloved artists and songs in a sweet acoustic set. What an awesome time! They loved it, and I think we feel somehow freer in that setting … Sonia’s enthusiastic rousing of the crowd helps 🙂 It was so moving to me to see my Dad and his beloved community (and a few visitors!) receive our gifts with such open hearts! Tamera noted, “I feel free there! They truly were so open and welcoming to us! Sonya is one ball of energy! Such a sweet time – lots of smiles.” Shelly commented, “Oh geez- I wanted to give a shout out to Tamera for the way she nailed – Wanna talk about me!” We are all so very grateful to be a part of the Atria LG family, such a precious community!

Pastor Karen was blown away to be honored as one of 135 nominees statewide out of 20,000+ employees and countless volunteers by the GA Senior Living Association – each one was honored at an awards gala. Liberty Vineyard Church has been a key part of this through prayer, and SO MANY through presence and encouragement over at Atria (where Grandpa Gene lives!) … may God be greatly glorified in and through us all as we continue to do small things with great love, making a real difference in people’s lives!

After enjoying delicious sub sandwiches together, nine of us set out to PRAY and WALK at Chandler RUN … breaking news – since our last prayer walk, people have started moving into the neighborhood, as the construction continues! We shared what we noticed and experienced: here is a crafted prayer from our time together. All glory to God!

This month, for Music & Ministry at Meadowbrook, we had another musical memories singalong! On the first day of summer, we had the blessing of bringing music and presence again to Meadowbrook residents and staff and a good sized crew from Liberty Vineyard Church! Karen prepared a set of Musical Memories from 1913 to 1992. All hands were on deck, and each one contributed to a delightful afternoon of music together, bringing joy to all who came.
